Fred Douglas

Executive Director

Fred is a 40 year veteran in the field of youth and family ministry. He is a graduate of Warner Pacific College and an ordained minister. Fred served three years as a Youth Pastor, and for the past 37 years he has served in the work of Youth for Christ. Fred also spent nine years as a member of YFC's National Board. As a speaker, many churches, organizations, business groups, Camps, Conferences, and retreat centers call upon Fred. He speaks to a wide variety of audiences ranging from adults to elementary students.
 

Becky Baerwald

Becky "Gramma Baer" has been with Portland YFC since 2008 and loves working with the staff, board, and ministry partners. She is now semi-retired and works on special projects from home due to her husband's current health needs.

Kevin Rich

Clackamas Area Director

Kevin attended Multnomah University and graduated with his Bachelor's in Bible and Theology with a minor in Pastoral Ministries.  He served on Portland YFC's staff during his time at Multnomah, upon graduating from Multnomah he and his wife moved to Tacoma, WA.  As of 2013 God has called Kevin and his family back to Portland to work with teens through YFC in the Clackamas area.

Jim Smith

Deaf Teen Quest

Born and raised in Buffalo NY, Jim met his wife Dawn at National Technical Institute for the Deaf in Rochester, NY.  After graduating, they moved back to Dawn's home state of Washington in 1985.  They have been involved in Deaf ministry for over 20 years.  He is currently Pastor to Maple Grove Deaf Church in Battle Ground, Washington.  Jim also serves as the Deaf Teen Quest Regional Coordinator for the Northwest and as the Area Coordinator for Vancouver, Washington.

Gary Bays

Coast to Coast Academy Director

Gary brings over 40 years experience to the Coast to Coast Academy program. He graduated from Anderson University with a Bachelor of Arts in Health and Physical Education. He followed that up with a Master of Arts in Teaching from Lewis and Clark College. 

Andrew Kruse

North Central Portland City Life Director

Andrew graduated Multnomah University with a Bachelor's in Biblical Studies and Communication. He then attended Multnomah Biblical Seminary, earning his Masters in Pastoral Studies. His ministry emphasis is on youth and children. He has served in various churches over the years in both intern and staff roles. He also has experience in connecting Christians to serve at local schools. Andrew enjoys writing, drinking coffee, and spending time with his wife.
